Digital Array Row Transceiver (DART)

DART – Digital Array Row Transceiver A DART (picture above) is a combined transmit and receive LRU with Gallium Nitride (GaN) T/R modules.

After several years and significant investment, Lockheed Martin has announced the availability of its next generation of radar technology for use in its long range radar products – Digital Array Row Transceiver (DART). The same new technology available in the recently launched TPS-77 MRR system is now available for the rest of Lockheed Martin’s ground based radar products.

Based on the use of Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology, the use of DART results in greater performance within current Lockheed Martin radar products and lower life-cycle costs due to an increase in energy efficiency.

DART represents the latest in digital radar technology available for all new radar units and can act as a modular component as part of an array re-fresh for a currently fielded radar product. GaN, the chosen technology for next generation radars, represents a low-risk solution whether part of an upgrade or in a newly built system. This technology is fully compatible with legacy products (TPS-77, TPS-59, FPS-117) and can help extend a radar’s useful life.
